Who is responsible
Bitnwise is operated by Nikolaos Panagiotis Karakoulis, who is the controller of the personal data described here under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For any privacy question or request, use the contact form or email us ().
Browsing this website
- The website is delivered through a European content delivery network. Like any web server, it processes your IP address in order to send you the page.
- The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising tools. Fonts are served from our own domain, so browsing does not contact any font service.
- The Open Source page asks GitHub for a list of public repositories directly from your browser, so GitHub receives your IP address when you open that page.
- The Cloud page loads Lemon Squeezy's checkout script so that the checkout can open over the page. Lemon Squeezy therefore receives your IP address when you open that page.
The contact form
When you send a message you give us your name, email address, an optional project type and your message. It is processed by our own server in the EU and emailed to the Bitnwise inbox through a European email delivery service. The server does not keep a copy. To prevent abuse it counts submissions per IP address in memory; those counts are discarded within a day.
We use your details only to reply and, if we work together, to manage the project. Correspondence is kept for as long as that requires, and normally no longer than two years after our last exchange unless it becomes part of a project agreement.
Bitnwise Cloud
If you subscribe to Bitnwise Cloud, we process the data needed to run the service for you:
- Account: your email address and sign-in details, handled by our identity provider in its EU region.
- Your files: stored on our servers and on object storage in the EU, with encrypted backups. Downloads through public share links are delivered through the same European content delivery network. We do not scan, index or analyse what you store.
- Payment: Lemon Squeezy, LLC, based in the United States, is the merchant of record. You give your payment details and billing address to Lemon Squeezy directly at checkout, and it processes them as an independent controller under its own privacy policy, which also explains how it protects data transferred outside the EU. We receive your email address and the status of your subscription, never your card details. Your files never reach Lemon Squeezy.
- Service email: receipts come from Lemon Squeezy; account and retention notices are sent through our European email delivery service.
- Server logs: IP address, time and request, kept for security and troubleshooting for up to 30 days.
What happens to your files after a subscription ends is set out in the retention policy.
Legal basis
Replying to your message and providing Bitnwise Cloud are necessary to take steps at your request or to perform our contract with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Security logs and abuse prevention rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Who else receives your data
Only the categories of provider described above, each for its specific task: content delivery, email delivery, email hosting, identity and sign-in, and storage, all operating in the EU, and Lemon Squeezy, based in the United States, for payments. We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising. Some providers belong to groups based outside the EU; where data may leave the EU, they rely on the safeguards the GDPR requires. You can ask us for the names of these providers at any time.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your data, its correction or deletion, restriction of or objection to its processing, and a portable copy. Use the contact form or email us (); we reply within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of the EU country where you live or work.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date. Cloud customers are told by email about material changes.
